BRIDGEWATER LAKES -RULES CHANGE

PUBLIC CONSULTATION PERIOD
MONDAY 20th JANUARY - FRIDAY 3rd MARCH 2023
CONSULTATION NOW CLOSED

BACKGROUND

Waterway recreation patterns, towed sports and vessel technologies have developed quickly in the last decade. Maritime Safety Victoria (MSV) provides State and Local rules that apply to Bridgewater Lakes. The Department of Energy, Environment & Climate Action (DEECA) is appointed as the local waterway manager.

DEECA is reviewing the waterway rules that have been in place since 2012. Maritime Safety Victoria (MSV) provides Waterway Audits to assist local waterway managers to refine existing rules and ensure safe boating.

Proposed refinements to local rules will ensure that a combination of State and Local waterway rules is easily communicated, reflects community needs and addresses trends in the waterway’s use. Rules are supported by Aids to Navigation such as buoys and Waterway Safety Signs.
